Ghana 2013 – Medical Mission

Dear Family and Friends,

Ghana 2013-Medical1It is with great joy that we send out a thank you letter to all who prayed and supported us during our 2013 trip to Ghana, West Africa.  We could sense that many were praying as God went before us in power, provision and safety.  We gave medical care to over 1,300 people with just 2-3 providers and enjoyed the blessing of working alongside Dr. Mensah, a Ghanaian pediatrician who is opening a hospital to serve in a rural area; Daihwan, a South Korean missionary who has been serving in Ghana with his family the past 6 years and several other fantastic team members.  Jammie had the privilege of working with dozens of children, a break from her usual care of geriatric patients in the US. Troy enjoyed doing health screenings at two different schools, hanging out with the kids and identifying those with bigger health issues.  The trip was a blessing in seeing how God may be opening doors for future longer term ministry in the future for us.  We love the Community Health Evangelism (CHE) model of teaching and training local people and leaders to be the impetus for change in their own communities so villages don’t have to depend on support from the West to bring about lasting change.  We enjoyed incorporating teaching CHE nearly every day we were there.  We hope you enjoy the pictures below that capture our trip better than our words and share some of the people we met and what God is doing in their lives.

 Ghana 2013-Medical2

Only God can bring a team together from the United States, Korea and West Africa to join him in Ghana Africa.  Our team did CHE (Community Health Evangelism) teaching, patient clinics, children assessments, teaching of CHE trainers and opened the door for our team to meet girls rescued out of slavery and given a future and then closed our trip with an assessment at an orphanage! WOW, God allowed us to see 1,300 patients in 8 days, make relationships, grow in ourselves, and join him where he already working.

Because of Him,

Troy & Jammie Tompkins
